Our newest and best tour yet. Climb aboard our 24 ft skiff for an adventure in the back country. Snipes Key is located about 15 miles northeast of Key West in the Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge. Snipes is a maze of mangrove islands with kayak trails going all over. On the north side is a huge sandbar which becomes a natural sandy beach at low tide. Wildlife is in abundance out here and the fishing is great.
The tour leaves from Cow Key Marina, travels south of Stock Island to Boca Chita channel and then north east to Snipes. Once there we anchor off the island, launch the kayaks and go paddling. The paddle tour goes through the maze of trails and over to the sandbar where we stop and do some snorkling, fishing, or just laying out in the sun. We then return to the boat for lunch and the ride back to Cow Key.
The skiff is equipped with a 90 horse motor which pushes us along at 20 knots or so. It’s quiet so you can carry on a conversation while under way. Up top is a rack capable of holding 6 kayaks and providing shade from the sun. On the deck is a dock box containing all the rest of the gear along with a couple of coolers for food and drink. It’s an easy and comfortable ride.
The price of this tour is $750 plus tax. That includes the boat, kayaks and gear, drinks, captain and guide, and all the fun you can handle. Bring what you want to eat, wear, sunglasses, waterproof camera, and some sunscreen. The average trip lasts about 5 hours depending on weather and how much fun everyone is having. We do require a minimum of two to make a trip. Pick up and drop off to and from your hotel to Cow Key Marina is also available.
Groups of 6 or private tours can charter the boat too. Pricing starts @ $750.
This is a great tour and one of the better ways to visit off the beaten path in Key West.
